Article Submission

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

 

Author Free Charge

Al-Bidayah: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar Islam, Journal does not charge APCs, submission charges, or another fee. All processes of article publication are free of charge.

Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Al-Bidayah: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar Islam is a peer-reviewed national journal, available in print and online and published two times a year. This statement clarifies ethical behaviour of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article in this journal, including the author, the chief editor, the editorial board, the peer-reviewer­­­­­ and the publisher of Program Studi Pendidikan Guru Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (PGMI)

UIN Sunan Kalijaga.  As the publisher of Al-Bidayah: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar Islam, Publisher takes its duties of guardianship over all stages of publishing seriously and it recognizes its ethical and other responsibilities.

Ethical Guideline for Journal Publication

The publication of an article in a peer-reviewed Al-Bidayah is an essential building block in the development of a coherent and respected network of knowledge. It is a direct reflection of the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the scientific method. It is therefore important to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the author, the journal editor, the peer reviewer, the publisher and the society.    

Publication Decisions

The editor of the Al-Bidayah is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. The validation of the work in question and its importance to researchers and readers must always drive such decisions. The editors may be guided by the policies of the journal’s editorial board and constrained by such legal requirements as shall then be in force regarding libel, copyright infringement and plagiarism. The editors may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.

Fair Play

An editor at any time evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

Confidentiality

The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor’s own research without the express written consent of the author.

Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and through the editorial communications with the author may also assist the author in improving the paper.

Promptness

Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse himself from the review process.

Confidentiality

Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

Standards of Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation. A reviewer should also call to the editor's attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

Duties of Authors

Reporting Standards

Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately in the paper. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behaviour and are unacceptable.

Originality and Plagiarism

The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others that this has been appropriately cited or quoted.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication

An author should not in general publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behaviour and is unacceptable.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.

Authorship of the Paper

Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Where there are others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included on the paper, and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.

Fundamental errors in published works

When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.

Screening for Plagiarism

Al-Bidayah: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar Islam, as a respected national journal, wants to ensure that all authors are careful and comply with international standards for academic integrity, particularly on the issue of plagiarism.

Al-Bidayah: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar Islam will not tolerate for any plagiarism. Therefore, Author should check their article through plagiarism checker application. For instance, Plagiarism checker application or Turnitin applications. If an article is indicated as a plagiary, it will be rejected and will not be reviewed. 

 

Peer Review Proccess

Al-Bidayah: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar Islam published biannually in June and December since 2009, is a bilingual (English and Indonesia), peer-reviewed journal, and specializes in Islamic Basic Education. All submitted papers are subject to double-blind review process.

The entire article will be review at least two reviewers, and the results of the review will be published after approval from the board of editors.

Al-Bidayah: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar Islam is periodical scientific journals published by the Study Program of Islamic Elementary Education, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Education, State Islamic University Sunan Kalijaga since 2009, in collaboration with the Association Lecturers Study Program of Islamic Elementary Education (PD-PGMI) Indonesia.

Al-Bidayah: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar Islam, published biannually in June and December. Uses Zotero as citation manager and uses Plagiarism Checker & Turnitin as screening for plagiarism, and has been indexed by GarudaMorarefBASEGoogle ScholarOne Search IndonesiaNeliti.comWorldCatAcademia.eduKUDOS, and has become CrossRef.org member since 2017, so all its article has its unique DOI number.

Focus of the Al-Bidayah: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar Islam publication is on various issues found in the field of Islamic Basic Education, both as material objects and or as formal objects. Al-Bidayah: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar Islam published since 2009 with ISSN Print: 2085-0034 with the first name AL-BIDAYAH. Issue of Al-Bidayah: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar Islam from the first publication until Volume 7 Number 2, December 2015 is still in the form of print, and this journal has not utilized the means of online publication. The online publication was first held since 2017 with the website address, http://ejournal.uin-suka.ac.id/tarbiyah/albidayah. Along with the first publication of this online version, Al-Bidayah: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar Islam registers and obtains ISSN Online: 2549-3388 which is accompanied by changes in the name of the journal to Al-Bidayah: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar Islam. This last name is used consistently today

The website of Al-Bidayah: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar Islam at the beginning of 2018 experienced technical problems and did not get certainty about the completion time. The manager of Al-Bidayah: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar Islam then took the decision to build a new website so that the service of article publication to all stakeholders was not disturbed. The manager made the transfer to the new website address Al-Bidayah: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar Islam, namely http://albidayah.id since the publication of Volume 10 Number 1, June 2018, and continues to the present. In addition, since the publication of Al-Bidayah: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar Islam Volume 10 Number 1, June 2018, the manager digitized all articles published since Volume 1 Number 1, June 2009 and uploaded them to this new website.

Al-Bidayah: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar Islam has undergone a three-time change in the guidelines and layout model since it first appeared. The first model is the author guideline and layout of the first issue of Volume 1 Number 1, June 2009. The first version of the guidelines and layout is used up to Volume 7 Number 2, December 2015. Al-Bidayah: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar Islam made the first change to the model guidelines and layout in Volume 8 Issue Number 1, June 2016, which was later referred to as the second version of the author guidelines and layout model. The second version of the guidelines and layout model is used until the publication of Al-Bidayah: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar Islam Volume 9 Number 2, December 2017.

The manager of Al-Bidayah: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar Islam after evaluating the performance of publications from the first issue of Volume 1 Number 1, June 2009 to Volume 9 Number 2, December 2017 which is considered not maximal, then decided to make changes to both the Al-Bidayah: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar Islam guidelines model and layout. The second change in the model of author guidelines and layout is called the third version. Publishing articles on Al-Bidayah: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar Islam since Volume 10 Number 1, June 2018 until now using the third version of the author guidelines and layout. The dynamics of Al-Bidayah: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar Islam’s journey above is a concrete manifestation of the real efforts of the management of Al-Bidayah: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar Islam so that it can always provide quality publication services for scientific journal articles and in accordance with the development of science and technology, both in in terms of the content and technical management of the journal.
